Understanding a neighborhood on the move. Mobile and participative methods to map and understand walkability and mobility practices
language: italian
publication date: May 2025abstract: The article presents the methodology and the preliminary results of the MUSA project's research on active mobility and walkability in the university district of Bicocca (Milan). The study has two main objectives: (1) to investigate the level of walkability in the neighbourhood and (2) to involve in its analysis students, residents and those who regularly frequent its spaces. To this end, students and users of the area have participated in urban audits and workshops in which they have had the opportunity to observe and map the characteristics of the streets and pedestrian routes and to express their opinions and perceptions through sketch maps and other participatory research tools.
