Exploring The City: a Milanese Flânerie Experiment
language: italian
publication date: May 2025abstract: The article presents the results of an experimental application of the 19th century experience of flânerie actualized to the present day. This practice, which arose in Parisian intellectual circles at the end of the 19th century, placed the flâneur in an intimate relationship with the city. For this reason, this experience can be applied to urban social research by allowing scholars to get in touch with elements of deep subjectivity that traditional techniques tend instead to miss. The experiment conducted in a Milan neighborhood constitutes a first beginning in the attempt to codify contemporary flânerie as a technique of urban inquiry.
